Tissue Engineering

The faculty of Cell Biology and Anatomy collaborates with faculty of Biomedical Engineering group at the University main campus in the area of tissue engineering. The focus of tissue engineering research in the department of Cell Biology and Anatomy is on 1) studying the molecular mechanisms that regulate development of embryonic heart in a novel three-dimensional culture system, 2) development of an in vitro vascularized cardiac  or vascularized  bone tissue using autologous and/or allogenic, adult, bone marrow stromal stem cells in a three-dimensional culture system.

The faculty with interests in tissue engineering are:
Richard Goodwin, PhD
Jay Potts, PhD
Daping Fan, M.D., PhD
Susan Lessner, PhD
