Pathology, Microbiology & Immunology

The following is the list of faculty with research interests in Neuroscience at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Neuroscience-based research targets neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders including alcohol and drugs of abuse, chronic pain, cognitive deficits, aging and neurodegenerative disorders, neurological complications of diabetes, epilepsy and seizure disorders, as well as stress, anxiety and depression. Many investigators use virus-mediated gene transfer approaches targeting the brain, spinal cord or even myocytes to alter gene expression or model disease states.   Neuroscience research at the School of Medicine also includes several translational components including drug discovery and clinical/pre-clinical trials.
